Iran Ready to Boost Energy Ties With Pakistan
Iran is ready to boost bilateral cooperation with Pakistan in oil and gas sector.
Country’s First Vice President Mohammad-Reza Rahimi on Monday said Iran is willing to meet Pakistan’s need for gas and electricity, Press TV reported.
On March 11, Iran and Pakistan inaugurated the final construction phase of the Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline, intended to carry natural gas from Iran to its eastern neighbour.
Pakistan is facing a severe energy crisis for few years now and is looking for various sources of energy and the Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline is expected to meet substantial gas demand in the country.
The 1,600-kilometre pipeline, projected to cost $1.5 billion would enable the export of 21.5 million cubic meters of Iranian natural gas to Pakistan daily.
