FNA: Iranian, Austrian Presidents Discuss Expansion of Energy Cooperation

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and his Austrian counterpart Heinz Fischer stressed the need for both Tehran and Vienna to pave the ground for enhancing energy ties, particularly transmission of natural gas to Europe.

“Iran enjoys a unique status in energy provision field and can therefore be a reliable energy source for Europe. We are ready to implement the network to transfer (natural) gas to Europe through Austria,” said President Rouhani in a meeting with Fischer in New York.

The Iranian president said that Tehran welcomes Vienna’s cooperation in further development of its railways network, ports, and industries. The Austrian president, for his part, underlined the old record of the two countries’ relations, welcoming the improvement of economic, cultural and scientific relations between Austria and Iran.
