Concerns Over Hydrocarbon Exploration Decline in Ireland
Ireland could soon run into energy security problems, said recently the Energy Institute (EI) Republic of Ireland, Dublin-based branch of the professional body for the energy industry.
“The Energy Institute (EI) Republic of Ireland has today published a submission to Government which highlights serious vulnerabilities in current energy policies,” reads a note released on June 26.
The EL expressed serious concerns for the decline in hydrocarbon exploration in Ireland, “which is exacerbated by the lack of interest of oil and gas majors in competing for exploration licences.”
“It is calling on Government to consider actions that would help develop Ireland's hydrocarbon resources so as to create jobs and generate revenues to aid in Ireland's economic recovery,” reads the note.
