Israel Seeks Alternative to Egyptian Gas at Home
Israel is looking to depend on its own natural gas supplies in order to move away from supplies from Egypt.
The Egypt-Israel gas pipeline, strategically important for both Israel and Egypt, has come under attack many times in last few months. Israel gets almost 40 percent of natural gas from this pipeline.
Israel plans to exploit its own gas reserves and expects to develop recently discovered gas fields by 2013. The new field can produce 240 bcm of gas.
