News.Az: Italy, Greece could lose out in Azerbaijani gas export

The Trans Adriatic Pipeline project (TAP) has been pushing its cause to export Azerbaijani gas via Greece to Italy.

There is still risk that Shah Deniz might choose SEEP (South-East Europe Pipeline) or the revised Nabucco (West) and in this way will circumvent Greece and Italy totally and that would be a tragedy not only for TAP but certainly for Greece and Italy.

The executive Director of TAP (Trans Adriatic Pipeline) Kjetil Tungland gave the comment in his interview to New Europe, Gun.Az reported.

According to Tungland, Shah Deniz will now evaluate the new proposal from Nabucco West and decide between SEEP and Nabucco West probably in June 2012.

“And then in advance of their final investment decision in June next year they will decide between TAP and their choice between Nabucco West or SEEP,” Tungland said.  MORE
