Vestnik Kavkaza: Italy supports South Stream
Italian Ambassador to Russia Cesare Maria Ragaglini said that Rome supported the South Stream pipeline project and dialogue with Russia.
He expressed confidence that a solution would be found due to its significance in changing gas routes and the industrial and technological development of Italy, Interfax reports.
South Stream is a pipeline project of Russia, Italy, France and Germany. The pipeline will run from the Anapsky District to Bulgaria’s Varna under the Black Sea. The project has been halted. Russia needs to recognize the third energy package in order to resume its development, said European Commissioner Gunther Oettinger. According to the package, gas extractors cannot own pipelines in EU countries.
