Jadestone nears completion of Akatara gas processing plant in Indonesia

Asia-Pacific-focused Jadestone Energy will complete the Akatara gas processing plant onshore Indonesia this month, the company announced on August 19.

Last month, Jadestone began contractual gas sales from the Akatara gas project. Since then, the gas plant has gradually become operational, with raw gas production into the processing facility steadily increasing to 20mn ft³/day, resulting in current gas sales in the range of 11-14mn ft³/day.

The plant’s export compressors, which pressurise the sales gas for export into the regional gas transportation pipeline system, require further commissioning work. Once completed, this will allow the plant to achieve its full raw gas capacity of 25mn ft³/d and deliver the daily contract quantity of 20mn ft³/d, as specified in the Akatara gas sales agreement.

“This activity is expected to complete this month, with any associated costs remaining the responsibility of the main contractor and equipment vendor,” Jadestone stated. Final completion and plant handover to Jadestone will occur after an extended production test at daily contract quantity volumes, which is a contractual condition.

The Akatara project will supply gas to local gas-fired power plants while the condensate and LPG will be sold for local residential use. In 2021, Jadestone reached an agreement to sell gas from the Akatara gas field to local utility Pelayanan Listrik Nasional Batam.
