Japanese LNG imports up 6% in May

Japanese LNG imports in May totalled 4.87mn tonnes, up 5.6% compared with the same period last year, according to provisional data released by Japan's finance ministry on June 19. Despite this year/year growth, the imports marked a decline of nearly 7.7% compared with the previous month.

The cost of LNG imports in May amounted to 449.1bn yen ($2.85bn), reflecting a 9.1% increase compared with the previous year.
