Japanese trio signs pact on carbon neutral gas
Japanese metal company Proterial, gas utility Tosai Gas, and energy producer Inpex have entered into separate agreements for the carbon neutralisation of gas, the companies said on June 13.
Tosai Gas will purchase carbon neutral gas from Inpex and replace the natural gas it supplies to Proterial's Okegawa Works in Saitama Prefecture with carbon neutral gas. Additionally, Tosai Gas will convert the natural gas used in its offices in Kitamoto City and Kuki City to carbon neutral gas.
Through this agreement, Proterial will utilise carbon neutral gas at its Okegawa Works to reduce CO2 emissions from the manufacturing of its main products.
Carbon neutral gas refers to natural gas whose carbon emissions have been offset through certified carbon credits obtained from global forest conservation projects and other CO2 reduction efforts. The entire value chain process, from development to combustion, has been offset to achieve neutrality.
