Japan's Inpex Comments on Abadi LNG Project Development Plans
Japan’s Inpex on Thursday said it will give due consideration to the implementation of the Abadi LNG project upon receiving official notification on the subject from Indonesian authorities.
Inpex’s comment was in response to media reports suggesting Indonesian President Joko Widodo’s intention to pursue an onshore-based LNG development scheme for the Abadi gas field.
On Wednesday, reports suggested that Widodo rejected Inpex Corp and Royal Dutch Shell's proposal to build the world's largest floating liquefied natural gas plant in the country's east, saying an onshore plant would benefit its economy more.
The Abadi LNG project is a large-scale project Inpex as operator is preparing for development in the Abadi gas field in the Masela Block, the Arafura Sea through its subsidiary Inpex Masela.
Going forward, Inpex will openly disclose in a timely manner any developments on this subject as appropriate, the company said.
