Japan's JERA Receives First Qatari Spot LNG Cargo

Qatargas has delivered first spot LNG cargo to Japan’s JERA under the newly executed master sales and purchase agreement between the two companies, Qatar News Agency reported Wednesday.

JERA is a joint venture created last spring between Tokyo Electric Power (Tepco) and Chubu Electric Power.

The spot cargo was delivered onboard the Q-Flex LNG Vessel, Al Ruwais, to the Futtsu LNG terminal in Tokyo Bay on 13th May, 2016.

The newly formed Japanese entity has also signed a long term contract to import LNG from the Jordan Cove terminal in the US to Japan.
