Japan's LNG imports drop 12% in March

Japanese LNG imports in March were 5.72mn metric tons, down 12% year/year, according to the provisional data published by the country’s finance ministry on April 20.

The imports were down 10.6% month/month. Japan’s imports cost 596.44bn yen ($4.4bn) last month, up 4.5% yr/yr, the data showed. 

Last year, Japan reclaimed the spot of the world’s biggest LNG importer, pushing China to second place. It imported 71.99mn mt of LNG in 2022, down 3.1% yr/yr.
