Japan's LNG Imports in 2014-15 Hit Another Record
Japan’s LNG imports in fiscal year 2014-2015 (Apr-Mar) hit another record with the country importing 89.07 million mn tons of fuel, up 1.5 percent on year, Ministry of Finance's preliminary data showed.
The value of LNG imports during the month was also at a record-high of 7.78 trillion yen ($65 billion) in 2014-15, up 5.9 percent on year.
In March, LNG imports were 8.14 million tons, up 1.2 percent from a year earlier.
Japan, world's biggest importer of the fuel, has been importing record LNG in last few year as demand for the fuel continued to see strong rise due to shut down of its nuclear stations since the Fukushima disaster in 2011.
