Japan's LNG imports in March down 1%
Japan’s LNG imports in March came in at 7.13mn metric tons, down 1.1% year/year, according to the provisional data released by the country’s finance ministry on April 19. Month on month, imports were down 11.5%.
LNG imports from the Middle East jumped 33% yr/yr while imports from Russia increased 22.6% yr/yr, the data showed. LNG imports from Asian sources dropped by 3.3% yr/yr while imports of US LNG increased 106.8% yr/yr.

During the 2020 calendar year, Japan imported 74.46mn mt of LNG, down 3.7% yr/yr. Despite the decline, Japan remains the world's biggest LNG importer.
