Japan's MHIENG eyes decarbonistaion in Canada

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Engineering (MHIENG), a unit of Japan’s Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI), has newly established a branch office in western Canada to conduct business relating to decarbonisation, MHI said on May 11.

The Calgary branch office will enhance the company’s presence in the region by performing timely operations to introduce its carbon capture technologies, MHI said.

MHI said that Canada is highly proactive in pursuing environmental protection and is a promising market for carbon dioxide capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS) advancement. Numerous potential projects are currently being studied across the country, namely in Alberta and Saskatchewan province, concurrently with the development of CCUS infrastructure including transportation and storage, MHI added.

MHI said it is currently strengthening its position in the energy transition, and the development of a carbon dioxide solutions ecosystem is a core component of that initiative.
