Japan's NYK orders another dual-fuel LPG/ammonia carrier

Japanese shipping company NYK has ordered another dual-fuel very large LPG/liquefied ammonia carrier from Kawasaki Heavy Industries (KHI), it said on January 27.

The new vessel will be the seventh LPG-fuelled LPG carrier in and the fifth ammonia carrier in NYK’s fleet. The vessel will be built at KHI’s Sakaide Shipyard and is scheduled for completion in 2026. It will feature a tank that can carry LPG and ammonia separately.

The ship will have a length of 230 m and a width of 37.2 m and a cargo capacity of 86,700 m3.
