Japan's Tohoku Electric to Buy LNG from Cameron LNG Project
Japan’s Tohoku Electric Power on Thursday said that it has signed an agreement to purchase 300,000 tons per year of LNG from Cameron LNG project for 16 years from 2022 from a unit of trading house Mitsubishi Corp.
Cameron LNG will be jointly owned by Sempra, GDF SUEZ, Mitsui and Japan LNG Investment, LLC, a company jointly owned by Mitsubishi Corporation and Nippon Yusen Kabashiki Kaisha (NYK).
For Tohoku this will be the first time when it has purchased LNG at US Henry Hub natural gas-linked prices.
In February, Cameron LNG received US Department of Energy authorization to export domestically produced LNG from its proposed liquefaction facilities in Hackberry, La., to countries that do not have a free trade agreement (FTA) with the US.
