Jordan Asks Gazprom to Supply LNG at Preferential Prices
Jordan is ready to buy LNG from Gazprom at preferential prices, according to the protocol of the third meeting of the Intergovernmental Russian-Jordanian Commission.
The copy of the document was obtained by Russian news agency TASS.
As per the protocol, both parties also agreed that Russian oil and gas companies will take part in projects of its fuel-an-power sector in Jordan.
Russia and Jordan agreed to exchange experience in exploration of mineral resources and estimation of reserves, as well as technologies used in shale oil production, the Russian news agency reported Monday.
Last year, BAM International completed the €65-million-project ($73 million) to construct the Aqaba LNG terminal for Jordan’s Aqaba Development Corporation (ADC).
The LNG terminal aims to support Jordan's economy and its strategic goals of alleviating the current energy crisis through the importation of LNG as a supplementary source to satisfy the current and future demand for natural gas and guarantee a continuous flow of gas in the event of interruption of other sources, with competitive prices to help reduce the cost of electricity production.
