Kazakh Gas Output Down 1% In H1
Natural gas production in Kazakhstan was down 1% yr/yr in the first half of 2019, according to statistics published by the energy ministry on July 15, totalling 11.67bn m³.
Crude oil extraction fell by 1.5%, arriving at 37.98mn mt, while output of condensate slumped 5.3% to 6.28mn mt.
Kazakhstan’s gas output has been rising for much of the last decade as a result of increased output at the Karachaganak and Tengiz fields in the west of the country. More recently, production has received a boost from the start-up of the offshore Kashagan field in late 2016 and the launch of Kazakh gas supplies to China a year later.
