Kinetiko Plans Three More Wells in South Africa CBM Project
Kinetiko Energy plans to drill three more pilot wells the Amersfoort Project northern licence 56ER in South Africa.
The EWP (Exploration Work programme) is designed to establish further gas flow testing on 56ER with the objective of enabling the independent certification of additional resources and potentially maiden reserves, the company said.
The company is also continuing negotiations with several potential customers for the gas that is being produced from the licence.
Five exploration pilot test wells have been drilled and two continue to be tested on the Northern Licence (56ER).
The Amersfoort project is located in South Africa’s Mpumalanga region, 250 km east of Johannesburg. Mpumalanga is a highly prospective area for coal-bed methane (CBM) with well documented, gassy coal measures and with gassy sandstones overlying the coal horizons.
Kinetiko is the operator of two gas licences in the Amersfoort Project (49% interest) covering 1,601 sq km under an agreement with South African partner, Badimo Gas.
