Kinetiko starts flow test of Korhaan-4 well in SA
Perth-based Kinetiko Energy on March 8 said that gas flow testing has started at Korhaan-4 well in South Africa. The Korhaan-4 flow test is the first of three from the recently completed three-well programme.
The well has been cleaned out and the logs showed “significant” cumulative gassy intervals and a substantial production section of approximately 313 m, the company said.

Kinetiko said it plans to optimise gas production by undertaking sophisticated completions, casing the production section and perforating only the most gassy zones to reduce water ingress in the next stage of well development, which is expected to increase gas flow rates further.
In recent weeks the company has moved closer to completion of material agreements with a major South African institution for funding to develop a new field of wells, and completing off-take arrangements with Vutomi Energy for first production of gas produced from the Korhaan wells for a gas-to-power project.
Kinetiko Energy is an Australian gas explorer focused on advanced shallow conventional gas and coalbed methane opportunities in in Southern Africa. It signed an agreement in December to acquire 100% of Afro Energy from Badimo Gas.
Kinetiko originally owned 49% of Afro, which holds the South African exploration rights and production approvals linked to its assets. For its stake in Afro, Badimo will receive about 598mn Kinetiko shares.
