KOGAS June Gas Sales Down 2.7%

South Korean state owned monopoly KOGAS sold 1.96 million tonne of LNG equivalent in June, down 2.7 percent on year.

Gas sold for power generation amounted to little over 1 mt of LNG equivalent, down 3.5 percent on year while gas sold to household and businesses amounted to 0.87 mt, lower by 1.7 percent, the company informed the stock exchange on Friday.

KOGAS’ May sales were down year-on-year as well. May domestic gas sales declined 8.6 percent from a year earlier.

There is clear trend in of declining gas consumption in both South Korea and Japan, two of the biggest LNG importers in the world.
