Kogas to Build Gas Pipeline in Iraq

State-run gas company Korea Gas Corporation (Kogas) has won a contract to lay natural gas pipeline in Iraq, media reports have said citing the Korean firm. The cost of laying the pipelines would be $127 million.

The project comprises of two parallel pipelines from Iraq’s northern Kirkuk region to Baiji. Construction of the 110-kilometer (68.3-mile) pipelines is expected to begin before the end of the month soon after the company signs a formal deal with Iraq’s Oil Pipelines Company for completion by October 2014, according to Kogas.

This is Kogas’ second overseas pipeline project, following the first in Mozambique where the firm will build a 65-kilometer-long gas pipeline.
