Korea Midland, Petronas to Co-operate on LNG, Renewables

State-run Korea Midland Power (Komipo) and Malaysia’s Petronas September 18 signed a memorandum of understanding in Houston on co-operation in LNG and renewable energy sectors, Komipo said September 19.

“This agreement will bring Komipo and Petronas together in the fields of LNG and renewable energy,” said Komipo president Park Hyung-ku.

Petronas is focusing on expanding its presence in the renewable sector. Earlier this year, the company entered into an agreement with I Squared Capital, an infrastructure investor, to buy its wholly-owned Singaporean renewable energy player Amplus Energy Solutions, also known as M+. The acquisition was Petronas’ first overseas deal involving renewable energy.
