Korea's DSME scores $196mn LNGC order
South Korean shipbuilder Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) announced on May 28 it had secured a 217bn won ($196mn) contract from Hyundai LNG Shipping for a 174,000-m3 LNG carrier.
The vessel will be built at the Okpo shipyard and is due for delivery in the fourth quarter of 2023. It will serve under a long-term charter contract with Spain's Repsol, marking Hyundai's first such deal with a European company. It will be fitted with a ME-GI gas propulsion system and DSME's re-liquefaction system.

DSME has won orders for 26 vessels so far this year with a combined value of $2.74bn, including 11 extra-large crude oil carriers, nine extra-large LPG carriers, four containerships, one LNG carrier and one wind turbine installation vessel. The shipbuilder's full-year target for orders is $7.7bn.
