KTJV secure Lakes Charles LNG contract

KBR announced on 19 September that KTJV, a joint venture between KBR and Technip Energies, has been selected by Lake Charles LNG Export Company, a subsidiary of Energy Transfer, for its Lake Charles LNG project in Lake Charles, Louisiana.

As part of the agreement, KTJV will provide engineering, procurement, construction management, construction, commissioning, startup, and related services, subject to the issuance of a notice to proceed from Lake Charles LNG.

The project will convert Energy Transfer’s existing import terminal into an export facility, featuring the installation of three liquefaction trains and modifications to the storage and dock facilities. This transformation will allow for the export of up to 16.45mn tonnes/year of LNG.

Located in southwest Louisiana, the facility has been operational since the 1980s as a regasification terminal, importing LNG for domestic use. Energy Transfer’s plans to convert the facility into an export terminal form part of a broader strategy to capitalise on the growing global demand for LNG.
