Kurdish Region Hopes to Start Exporting Gas to Turkey by 2017
Iraq’s Kurdish Region expects to start exporting gas to Turkey by 2017, BasNews, a news portal reported Wednesday.
The issue was discussed during Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) Finance and Economy minister Rebaz Hamlan’s recent visit to Turkey.
KRG exports oil via pipeline to Turkish port of Ceyhan.
BasNews reported that the KRG has already signed a gas production contract with ExxonMobil and Turkish companies Botas and Genel Energy.
According to the latest estimates, Kurdistan region of Iraq has over 5.7 trillion cubic meters of natural gas reserves.
