Lion Energy eyes hydrogen mobility space in Australia
Australian oil and gas company Lion Energy has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with transportation and property firm Pulitano Investments to identify potential sites in Australia for hydrogen generation and dispensing, it said on December 1.
Under the terms of the MoU, the parties are exploring opportunities for a long-term collaboration in the hydrogen mobility space, in particular where Lion could produce and distribute hydrogen to meet the needs of Pulitano’s future pilot and a commercial fleet of hydrogen buses.

Pulitano is a major bus company in Australia with a fleet of more than 400 buses across Queensland and Victoria. It operates in jurisdictions with zero emission targets and is keen to position itself for the transition to zero emission vehicles, Lion said.
The intended outcome of the MoU will initially be to identify potential sites and frame commercial arrangements to enable the parties to negotiate formal offtake agreement in the future, Lion added.
Lion owns conventional oil and gas assets in Indonesia and is exploring green hydrogen opportunities in Australia.
