15min.lt: Lithuanian Minister of Environment: Chevron wants more time to study amendments to shale gas legislation

US energy giant Chevron has asked for more time to study the latest amendments to Lithuania’s shale gas legislation, which have recently been passed by the Seimas (parliament) in order to tighten the policy of shale gas exploration and production in the country, Environment Minister Valentinas Mazuronis has said.

He told BNS that several days ago he met with Chevron’s representatives who asked to postpone a decision on the shale gas exploration tender, which should be made by the tender commission, so that the US company could study the legislative amendments. In line with the terms of the tender, once the commission has taken its decision, the winner of the tender will have 30 days to pay a contribution, specified in its bid, to the state budget.  MORE
