LNG Croatia, Korea's SK E&S sign agreement on LNG, CO2 capture
LNG Croatia, the operator of the LNG terminal on the island of Krk in Croatia, has signed a joint development agreement with South Korean energy company SK E&S, it announced on October 12. The two companies will work together on projects for the efficiency of the LNG terminal in Croatia, CO2 capture, and the development of an LNG distribution and bunker station.
The agreement was signed by SK E&S vice president of global business development Youngwook Yoo and managing director of LNG Croatia Ivan Fugas.
Wartsila was recently awarded a contract to enhance the regasification capacity of the floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) LNG Croatia. The FSRU is owned by LNG Hrvatska and serves as the LNG terminal on Krk Island. Wartsila will provide a new regasification module that will increase the terminal's capacity by 50%.
Croatia became the world's 40th importer of LNG in 2021 and has since announced plans to double Krk's regas capacity to 6.1bn m3/year.
