Lundin Announces Successful Drilling of Gotha-2 Appraisal Well in PL492
Lundin Norway and Det norske announced that drilling of appraisal well 7120/1-4S in the western part of the Gohta discovery in PL492 has been successfully completed. The well confirmed presence of oil and gas in the discovery in the Barents Sea on the Norwegian Continental Shelf.
‘The well confirmed presence of oil and gas and two production tests were undertaken. The test of the gas zone was successful, whereas the test in the oil zone was inconclusive,’ reads a note released by Det norske on Monday, referring to the Gotha-2 appraisal well.
The partners did indeed perform two production tests, a oil zone test and a test on the gas condensate zone.
‘The test of the 10 metre thick gas condensate zone produced 26.4 mmcfd of gas and 880 barrels of condensate per day. The pressure build-up analysis showed the test draining an area with a radius of at least 1,000 metres out from the well. The results confirmed good production characteristics in the matrix of the limestone conglomerate,’ Lundin wrote on its website.
Lundin Norway, is the operator and has a 40 percent working interest in PL492. The partners are Det norske oljeselskap with a 40 percent working interest and Noreco Norway with a 20 percent working interest.
