Brisbane Times: Major parties fail on CSG: report
The major parties' coal seam gas policies fail to protect the environment and farmers, activists say.
Lock the Gate Alliance (LGA) have released a report on Tuesday examining Labor and the coalition's CSG policies.
The report says their policies don't protect water sources and air quality, reduce emissions, regulate chemical use or strengthen landholders' rights to say no to CSG projects.
"These parties have failed in their duty to protect Australians from the risks involved with the rapid expansion of coal and unconventional gas mining," the report said.
"The threat of federal decision-making powers on environment being handed back to the states, supported by the coalition and threatened by the ALP, represents a grave risk to the future of our water resources and natural areas." MORE
