Malaysia's Johor Port completes 100th LNG bunkering op
Malaysia's Johor Port recently completed its 100th LNG bunkering operation in collaboration with Petco Trading Labuan Company, a trading arm energy company Petronas, it said on October 26.
The 100th LNG bunkering operation was carried out on the bulk carrier Mount Norafjell in July. Johor Port's COO, Md Derick Basir, said that the milestone marks a notable achievement for the port and for Malaysia, and reinforces Malaysia's position as an LNG bunkering hub in Asia.
Johor Port, a member of MMC Group, is an integrated multi-purpose port facility located at the southern tip of Peninsular Malaysia. It currently operates a total area of 1,000 acres, 660 acres of which are designated as free zone.
Petco CEO Shamsul Bahari Salleh said that the company is fully confident in Johor Port's capacity to enhance Malaysia's position as an LNG bunkering hub while supporting the International Maritime Organisation's sustainability goals.
