McDermott, Partner Send Feed Gas to Cameron Train 2

McDermott International and Chiyoda International, its joint venture partner, said December 2 feed gas had been introduced to the second train of the 12mn mt/yr Cameron LNG project in Louisiana.

Feed gas was introduced to the first train at Cameron LNG on April 15, 2019, followed about a month later by the train’s first LNG. Cameron LNG shipped its first cargo from Train 1 on May 31, 2019.

The McDermott/Chiyoda joint venture has provided engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services to Cameron LNG since the project’s initial award in 2014. The facility includes three trains, each rated at 4mn mt/yr of LNG from 1.7bn ft3/day of natural gas.

A 10mn mt/yr expansion, consisting of two additional trains and two additional storage tanks, has received US regulatory approval but no final investment decision has yet been made.

Cameron LNG is jointly owned by affiliates of Sempra, French Total, Japan’s Mitsui & Co and Japan LNG Investment, a company jointly owned by Mitsubishi and Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK).
