US McDermott scores FEED work in Qatar

Houston-based McDermott International has reported landing a contract for front-end engineering and design work at Qatar’s offshore North Field Expansion (NFE) LNG project.

McDermott has been hired by Qatar Petroleum to design eight wellhead platforms, four offshore trunk lines and intra-field pipeline and power and fibre optic subsea cable rings. The engineering group will start work on the project immediately.

The NFE development is Qatar's largest source of LNG is expected to ramp up Qatari gas production from 77mn mt/yr to 110mn mt/yr by 2024.
