Medco, Salmander Spud the South Sebuku-2 Appraisal Well

Medco Energi Internasional has spud the South Sebuku-2 appraisal well on the Bengara-1 production sharing contract in the Tarakan basin in East Kalimantan, Indonesia.

The 2009 South Sebuku onshore gas discovery is thought to contain 80 bcf of gross mean contingent resources. Medco is operator with 59% interest, and Salamander Energy has a 41% interest in the Bengara-1 PSC.

Should the appraisal well be successful, the partners will look to tie into the South Sembakung gas condensate field 15 kilometres away in the neighbouring Simengarris PSC, expected to come on stream in the last quarter of 2012.
