Mexico Gears Up for Round 3 Offshore
Mexico is preparing to launch its third offshore licensing round, upstream regulator the National Hydrocarbons Commission (CNH) said September 28.
Three regions are being offered, containing 35 areas and a likely mix of hydrocarbons. The largest acreage on offer has the highest number of prospects for dry gas (see table).

The publication of the terms of reference for bidders starts September 29 and companies may register for access to the data room on October 16. the process is due to conclude April 2, 2018.

Mexico ended the monopoly of Pemex a few years ago and only this summer the first well drilled by a private consortium struck a huge oil and associated gas find, with the Zama-1 well in Block 7.
