Mitsubishi Power secures turbine order for Malaysian CCGT

Mitsubishi Power has received an order for an M701F gas turbine and a steam turbine for a 500MW combined cycle gas turbine (GTCC) power plant in Sarawak, Malaysia, the company announced on August 5.

The equipment supply contract was signed with Sinohydro Corporation, the engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning (EPCC) contractor for the project.

In addition to supplying the core equipment, Mitsubishi Power will also provide auxiliary equipment and dispatch technical advisors to support the installation and commissioning process. The gas turbine will be designed to co-fire fuel containing up to 30% hydrogen.

The project, located in Miri, a city in northeastern Sarawak, is owned and operated by Petros Power, a subsidiary of the Sarawak-owned oil and gas company Petros. Sinohydro Corporation is serving as the EPCC contractor, with Mitsubishi Power supplying the critical components.

Mitsubishi Power has also secured a long-term service agreement with Petros to ensure the plant's stable operational performance after it begins commercial operations. The generators for the power plant will be manufactured by Mitsubishi Generator, a company formed in April through the integration of MHI and Mitsubishi Electric Corporation's power-generator systems businesses.
