Mitsubishi Power to Build Thai CCGT

Mitsubishi Power has signed a full turnkey contract for the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of a 1.4 GW power plant with Hin Kong Power Company in Thailand, it said on September 30 in a statement.

Mitsubishi will provide two M701JAC turbines for the combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) facility. The contract includes a 25-year long term service agreement for the project. Under this agreement, Mitsubishi will provide maintenance on the power plant’s gas turbines. Commercial operations will begin in March 2024 and January 2025 respectively, the company said.

The CCGT facility will be built approximately 100 km west of Bangkok. The owner, Hin Kong Power, is a special purpose company jointly established by Ratch Group Public Company and Gulf Energy Development Public Company, two independent power producers in Thailand. Power generated from the plant will be sold to the state-run utility Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand.
