Mitsubishi Power to develop hydrogen-ready power plant in Singapore
Mitsubishi Power, in partnership with Jurong Engineering, has secured an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract to develop a new 600 MW hydrogen-ready combined cycle power plant (CCPP) in Singapore, it said on May 24.
The project, awarded by Sembcorp Industries' subsidiary Sembcorp Cogen, aims to enhance electricity generation for the grid and provide steam for industrial operations on Jurong Island. The plant is expected to commence operations by 2026.
Located at Sembcorp's forthcoming multi-utilities centre on Jurong Island, the CCPP project will feature Mitsubishi Power's M701JAC gas turbine, an air-cooled version of their J Series gas turbine, along with the steam turbine and other essential equipment.
Mitsubishi Power has also been entrusted with a long-term service agreement to maintain the major equipment of the power plant. Jurong Engineering will undertake the construction and balance of plant responsibilities.
