Mol makes find in Pakistan

Hungary’s Mol has made an oil and gas discovery at the Tal block in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of northern Pakistan, its local partner Pakistan Oilfields (Pol) reported on August 22.

The Makori Deep-02 well at the site test-flowed at a daily rate of 1,844 barrels of oil and 18.25mn ft3 of gas, Pol said in a filing on the Pakistan stock exchange. The rate was achieved via a 32/64-inch fixed choke at flowing wellhead pressure of 3,767 pounds per square inch.

The well is due to start up production this December, Pol said.

The Tal block is producing at a plateau rate of 90,000 boe/day, according to Mol. The Hungarian firm has been working as the block’s operator since 1999. Besides Pol, its partners include state-run firms Pakistan Oil and Gas Development (OGDC), Pakistan Petroleum and Government Holdings Private.
