Moldova hikes gas tariffs
Moldova's market regulator announced on September 23 it would increase gas prices for households from October 1 by 27% to 29.3 lei ($1.5)/m3.
This is the fourth time Moldova has increased prices since the start of this year, and the National Agency for Energy Regulation says each price rise is "directly proportional" to equivalent increases in the price that is paid for supplies from Russia's Gazprom.
The latest decision reflects higher prices on gas trading markets which have surpassed the 1% ceiling set out in Molodovagaz's methodology. The new regulated gas prices are: 24,716 lei/1,000 m3 ($4,880.73) at gas grid entry points, 24,914 lei/1,000 m3 ($4,920) for gas exit points, 25,175 lei/1,000 m3 ($4,971) at gas exit points and 27,103 lei/1,000 m3 ($5,350) at household grid points.
