MVP Cleared for Some Work on Federal Land

Mountain Valley Pipeline (MVP) received clearance September 14 from the US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (Ferc) for partial construction on federal lands in West Virginia stripped of federal permits in July by a panel of appeals court judges.

Under terms of the partial authorisation from Ferc, MVP will be allowed to begin construction on a 1.1-mile segment of pipe in Summers County, West Virginia. That section of the pipeline right-of-way, Ferc noted, contains two archaeological sites eligible for designation in the National Register of Historic Places.

MVP is not authorised to begin construction on any other federal lands, Ferc said.
