Club of Mozambique: Mozambique LNG decree law passed, but content unclear
Mozambique’s new decree law covering the Rovuma Basin LNG developments has been approved by the Council of Ministers and should be published sometime this week, Fabrizio Trilli, general manager of Eni East Africa, said on Wednesday.
The final content of the legislation is still unknown, however. Neither Eni, the operator of offshore Area 4, nor Anadarko, the operator of offshore Area 1, have seen the final version of the law – which puts in place a special legal, contractual and stability regime for both the onshore and offshore LNG projects.
"We have not seen the document, but we think it’s a huge step for the project and shows a huge commitment from government," John Peffer, president of Anadarko Mozambique, told delegates at CWC’s Mozambique Gas Summit in Maputo.
