Myanmar Gas Exports in Current Fiscal Crosses $200 mn

According to a report published in Eleven Myanmar, Myanmar earned about $218 million from exports of natural gas from April 1 to May 13 in the 2016-2017 fiscal year.

According to commerce ministry data, during the 2015-2016 fiscal, Myanmar earned over $4.3 billion from gas exports.

Myanmar has four gas projects: Yadana, Zawtika, Yetagon and Shwe. Gas from the Yadana, Zawtika and Yetagon projects is exported to Thailand, while the Shwe project supplies gas to China.

The daily production rate of the Yadana gas project is 910 million cubic feet; Shwe produces around 500 million cubic feet; Zawtika produces 360 million cubic feet; and Yetagon produces over 250 million cubic feet.

The Shwe gas field was discovered in 2005 and started production in 2014. The Yadana gas field is operated by Total and exports 711 million cubic feet.

The Yetagon gas field was discovered in 1992.
