Naftogaz Reaches Agreement with Gazprom
Ukraine’s Naftogaz said that it reached an agreement with Russia’s Gazprom to defer until spring Ukrainian payments for Russian gas imported from October to December, according to Reuters.
While Ukrainians keep protesting for the U-turn over the free trade agreement with Europe, the yield on Ukraine’s dollar-denominated notes jumped over 19% for the first time on Monday. The same notes were issued last year at 7.95%.
Ukraine is looking for solutions to repay its $15.3 billion maturing debt. Kiev is trying to find support in Beijing and Moscow.
“Ukraine is a reliable borrower and is flawlessly fulfilling, and will fulfil, all of its obligations on time,” Finance Minister Yuri Kolobov commented on Monday.
