New Europe: Montenegro joins South Stream pipeline
Russian gas monopoly Gazprom and Montenegro have launched feasibility studies for the South Stream gas pipeline project. "The parties have discussed technical opportunities to join Montenegro to the South Stream project, after the country showed it was interested at the end of last year. We have decided to work out a feasibility study to build a gas pipeline bend to Montenegro," Gazprom said in a statement.
Gazprom Project Management Department head Leonid Chugunov held negotiations in Montenegro with Prime Minister Igor Luksic, Foreign and European Integration Minister Milan Rocen, and Economy Minister Vladimir Kavaric.
Montenegro expressed interest to be connected to the South Stream project in October 2011. MORE
