New Fortress Energy sends first Altamira LNG cargo to Europe

New Fortress Energy (NFE) said September 30 it had loaded the first full cargo from its offshore Altamira, Mexico Fast LNG facility onto the Energeos Princess, which has set sail for Europe.

“This is a significant milestone for our Fast LNG installation,” NFE CEO Wes Edens said. “Natural gas and power supply are critical components of a sustainable, affordable, and cleaner energy system and we’re excited to be able to provide our own gas supply to the world markets and our customers.”

NFE produced its first LNG at the 1.4mn tonnes/year Fast LNG facility in July, ending a months-long delay to a schedule which originally called for first LNG in September 2023.

A second 1.4mn tonnes/year Fast LNG is currently under construction onshore at Altamira, targeting completion in Q1 2026.
