NFE hands out Fast LNG 2 FNTP notice

New Fortress Energy has issued a full notice-to-proceed notice (FNTP) to Texas-headquartered Fluor for the EPC management remit of its 1.4mn metric tons/year Fast LNG 2 gas treatment and liquefaction project.

Fluor, which announced the FNTP July 11, expects to book the contract value, of an undisclosed amount, at some point in the current financial quarter.

The NFE Fast LNG 2 project is the second offshore modular mid-scale LNG plant that NFE is progressing this year, targeting third-party gas producers in global markets.

NFE's modular design allows the unit to be rapidly deployed on repurposed drilling jackups at existing upstream gas infrastructure, providing accessible LNG production capacity in exchange for a gas share and tolling fee paid to NFE.

Fluor was also awarded the engineering contract for the first NFE Fast LNG facility, which is expected to serve Eni's Marine 12 gas development in the Republic of Congo from the middle of next year.

In addition to the tolling fee, NFE also has the right to purchase 50% of LNG production from Eni's Congo development, giving it flexibility to sell volumes at significant upside into global gas markets.
