Noble Group Gains Access to South Hook LNG Terminal
Noble Clean Fuels, a subsidiary of the Noble Group, has gained access to the South Hook terminal in the UK through a deal with South Hook Gas.
The deal will see Noble access the spare LNG capacity at the terminal, a joint statement for the companies said. The agreement will allow Noble to provide gas for the UK downstream gas market, Noble said, ensuring flexibility of supply.
"We are pleased to sign this agreement, allowing us to unload LNG volumes destined for the UK downstream gas market, where we are already managing physical gas flows with assets such as the Holford underground gas storage facility," Global Head of LNG at Noble, Alejandro Sanchez Gestido, said today. "This contract adds to Noble's portfolio of flexible assets across the shipping, supply, regasfication and marketing elements of the LNG value chain in both the Atlantic and Pacific basins."
South Hook Gas, a joint venture between Qatar Petroleum International (which holds a 70 per cent stake) and ExxonMobil (which holds the remaining 30 per cent stake), said that the agreement was part of the company's drive to ensure energy diversity in the UK market.
"We've said since starting operations that we wanted to help improve supply diversity and competition in the UK energy market," General Manager at South Hook Gas, Rashid Al-Marri, said. "We're now supplying more gas into the UK than any other LNG shipper and by signing new access agreements such as this one with Noble, we're fulfilling our promises."
The exact capacity covered by the deal was not specified in the statement.
